The Vegas Super Bowl, Great Eats, and Fasting
If you choose to fast, I hope it brings you closer to God, and not diet culture.
It seems that having the Super Bowl in a town that knows how to party all the time is a good idea. Even Usher was like, “Yeah!” All cheese aside, having my city host the Super Bowl was pretty cool. I had a few friends that went, and several volunteered at the event. If it happens again, I will sign up as a volunteer worker. What a fun time for Vegas and, of course, the Swifties.
One of my favorite celeb sightings was Jeff Goldblum. We just finished watching the Jurassic Park series with my daughter, and we have so many Ian jokes. He’s also one of my favorite actors. When he got caught on the fan cam, he acted just like most of us would - an excited kid! I’ve posted it below. It makes me smile every time I watch the video, and I hope it does the same for you. Thanks to my buddy, Sam, for sending it to me - we share a fondness for JG.
Now for Menus
My family loves chicken tenders, and this week, we’re making them once and eating them twice. We’re also making slow-cooker Italian beef, tuna melts, pork marsala, and more. I hope you love this lineup.
Don’t forget that if you need to make swaps for more convenient or time-saving options, do it. This week, we are making our chicken tenders. But if you don’t have time to get that done, swap them out for frozen chicken tenders instead. It doesn’t need to be perfect, but you do need to be fed. Do what works best for you and your family.

We’re now in the season of Lent - a practice many engage in that symbolizes Jesus’ time in the wilderness before his death and resurrection. Those who recognize Lent often give up worldly conveniences, “vices,” and, most often, certain foods. While I think the season of Lent can be a spiritual blessing to many, it can often bring believers closer to disordered eating instead of God. The post below offers many non-food fasting options if you choose to participate. It’s not too late to pivot. We’re only a few days in…
The content below is an audio Q & A for paid subscribers where I dig a little deeper into fasting. I offer my personal and professional opinions and answer these questions - Do you think we should fast? Are Biblical verses taken out of context? Do we have to fast food, specifically? Why do some leaders say you must fast or say the whole congregation should participate?
