Happy (Almost) New Year, Avoiding Diet Culture, and Your January Menus
January 1st is the kick-off of the diet culture Olympics and we are NOT tuning in!
Hopefully, this finds you doing well in the midst of this holiday season. It’s hard to believe we are less than a week away from 2025.
I have no doubt that you’ve heard all kinds of diet talk and New Year’s resolution talk. It, sadly, comes with the season that should be free of such harmful noise. But alas, here we are, rolling into 2025 with hopes and dreams of a diet-free workplace, church, and social community.
A lady can dream…
But we can build a community of like-minded people who help us move toward food and body freedom this year. Even in all the New Year, new you nonsense that will start any day now, we can choose to surround ourselves with people who are ready to step off the diet culture train. You have to be willing to step off yourself. Diet culture doesn’t have to steal another year. Let the diet-free legacy begin with us.
We can choose to set boundaries around what conversations we will engage in with our colleagues, in our homes, in church small groups, or even in doctor’s offices. If you have no idea how to start, grab a friend or colleague and read Feed Yourself together (it’s on sale). Let’s ring in 2025 by resolving to NOT engage in or support diet culture.
January Menus
Let’s ring in this New Year fed! I hope you enjoy the next five weeks of menus. From soups to homemade pizza and a tapas party, your meal ideas are covered.
Happy New Year,
:) Leslie
